Join us for this week long journey of discovery that will take you from the Colonial period to the perilous times of the American Revolution including the fateful battles that occurred. Delve into the past at this unique program with presenters in period attire as we learn about the British Northern Campaign and our fight for independence. This program includes visits to Boston, New Hampshire, Vermont and New York. Visit the Hubbardton Battlefield, Bennington and Saratoga as we trace the steps of our forefathers. Join us and explore the history that formed the United States of America.
Day One
Group arrival in the Boston area where we'll spend the next two evenings. Dinner is included this evening.
Day Two
Continental breakfast is served at the hotel. Today we explore the Freedom Trail, Lexington and Concord. We start our journey today in Lexington where in April, 1775 the first skirmish of the American Revolution took place. This is where Paul Revere made his famous ride to tell the Minuteman the "British are Coming." Today visits include; Concord, The Old North Church, Bunker Hill and the USS Constitution. You will have some free time for lunch and shopping in Quincy Market. Dinner is included this evening at the hotel.
Day Three
After breakfast, we journey west into New Hampshire where we'll visit Old Fort #4 (Home of General John Stark, leader of the Battle of Bennington). We continue into Vermont for a visit to the Old Constitution House before continuing to our hotel in Ludlow, VT, where we'll spend the evening. Dinner is included this evening.
Day Four
Following breakfast, we travel to Bennington, Vermont. Today we'll visit the Bennington Battlefield and see a live reenactment of the Battle of Bennington. This is the Battle of Bennington's 225th Anniversary. Following our time in Bennington we'll travel to Castleton, VT, where we'll visit the Hubbarton Battlefield which was the only Revolutionary War Battle fought on Vermont soil. We overnight in the Turland area for the next two evenings. Dinner is included.
Day Five
After breakfast, we board the coach for Lake Champlain for a historical four hour cruise on Lake Champlain. On our cruise we'll journey past Hand's Cove, Fort Ticonderoga, Mount Independence, Mount Defiance and finish our trip with a ride through Lock #12 into the Chaplain Canal. This afternoon we'll visit Fort Ticonderoga, built by the French in 1755 and captured by Ethan Allen in 1775. Tours include guides in period attire, artillery or musket frings and Fif & Drum Corps Parades. Another delicious dinner is served at our hotel.
Day Six
Following breakfast, we travel west into New York where we'll visit the Saratoga Battlefield which was the final battle of the northern campaign. This is where General Burgoyne surrendered his forces to the Continental army. This afternoon we start our journey home to St. Louis. We overnight in the Albany area. Dinner is on your own this evening.
Day Seven
After breakfast, we continue our journey home.
