The American Civil War

Join us for a week of discovery and a journey through Virginia and the American Civil War.

We start our week in Manassas which was the site of the first major battle of the Civil War in 1862. Here we'll visit the Manassas Battlefield, before continuing south through Fredericksburg and onto the Hampton, Virginia area.

While in Hampton we’ll visit many important sites including Fort Monroe, Fort Wool, Endview Plantation, Lee Hall and as well as a few other key places on the peninsula.

Following our stay in the Hampton area, we continue to the Confederate Capital of Richmond. Along our journey north we'll visit the town of Smithfield and then to Petersburg and the Pamplin Park Civil War Site.

In the spring of 1865, Grant broke the western outposts of Lee's lines and forced him west on the only escape route. Defenseless, the Confederate capital of Richmond was evacuated over the next two days. While in Richmond we'll visit the Museum of the Confederacy, Virginia Historical Society where J.E.B. Stuart's coat and sash are displayed as well as a few of the local battle sites.

This tour will be fully escorted with local guides and historians.
